⑴ The purpose of absorption in the chemical industry is to separate the various components of a gas mixture. The objectives are: ① to recover or capture useful substances from the gas mixture in order to produce products； ②Harmful components in the process gas are removed to purify the gas for further processing; for example, harmful gases can poison catalysts, so they must be eliminated ； Or remove harmful substances from industrial exhaust gases to prevent air pollution. ⑵ The basis for absorption is to determine what substance (solvent, absorbent) should be used to achieve the separation of gas mixtures, and what serves as the basis for that separation (The components in a gas mixture have different solubilities in a solvent; the greater the difference in solubility of these components in the absorbent, the better the selectivity of absorption.) For example, to separate a mixture of ammonia gas and air, water can be used as a solvent, since ammonia has the highest solubility in water, while air is almost insoluble in water.
