Solid Phase Extraction Solid phase extraction (SPE) is a widely used and increasingly popular sample pretreatment technology. It is based on traditional liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) and is gradually developed by combining the similar phase dissolution mechanism of material interaction and the basic knowledge of stationary phases in currently widely used HPLC and GC. SPE has the characteristics of less organic solvent consumption, convenience, safety and efficiency. SPE can be divided into four types according to their similar miscibility mechanisms.: Reverse phase SPE, normal phase SPE, ion exchange SPE, adsorption SPE. SPE is mostly used to process liquid samples to extract, concentrate and purify semi-volatile and non-volatile compounds. It can also be used for solid samples, but they must be processed into liquids first.
