Is it reasonably safe to use wooden boards to cushion the oil-laden reducing head at the petrochemical terminal? Our company uses wooden boards to cushion the reducing head under the oil delivery arm to avoid sparks caused by impact. However, wooden boards are also flammable. Will they spontaneously ignite if they come into contact with oil and chemicals? What kind of pad should be used? Please give us some advice.

I’ve never seen one made of wood. What kind of company are you? The root cause of preventing sparks from impact is the material of the variable diameter head and the contact object.
It is indeed common to use wood, and it is convenient to use. I have never seen spontaneous combustion occur anywhere, but there are real safety risks! What I use is a white plastic-like thing, fixed in a square shape on an iron plate, so that it can slide easily without causing sparks. It may be the Bakelite mentioned on the third floor, because I have seen similar material reports. Bakelite is a synthetic material.
