The water seal of a pump is just one form of sealing, and it can be divided into packing seals, mechanical seals, and dynamic seals. The seal chosen for a pump is related to the hazard level of the medium being transported; the more hazardous the medium, the higher the required seal rating. A water seal works by injecting water into the pump’s seal to create water pressure that provides sealing effect.

The so-called \"water seal\" cannot be used alone; it is a type of seal that works in conjunction with a packing seal. Suitable for conditions where the medium contains a high amount of solid particles. Pure water is generally used, with a pressure slightly higher than that of the medium (usually 0.05 MPa higher). The consumption of pure water should be as low as possible, provided that the water seal is maintained. The nozzle can be installed slightly inward in the middle of the packing; its purpose is to prevent solid particles in the medium from entering the packing, thereby avoiding severe wear on the inter-shaft sleeves or shafts and providing protection. Since very little pure water is consumed, the pure water that passes through the filler mixes with the medium and is discharged.
