There are generally two standards for classifying the fire resistance rating of workshops: one is the building fire protection code, and the other is the petrochemical fire protection code. The petrochemical fire protection regulations stipulate that if the operating temperature of a material is higher than its flash point, then the fire protection classification for that material must be increased by one level. We use butanol in the workshop; there is only one step in which the reaction temperature exceeds its flash point, and the amount of butanol used in that step is not large either. So should this workshop be classified as a Class A workshop or a Class B workshop?
If the area where butanol is handled at temperatures above its flash point accounts for 5 percent or less of the total fire protection area in the facility, then the production category of that facility can be classified as Category B.
When there are productions of different natures within a factory building or a fire compartment, its classification shall be determined based on the part with a higher fire hazard. However, if the area occupied by the part with a lower fire hazard accounts for less than 5% of the area of that floor or fire compartment (and less than 10% in the painting sections of factories engaged in Class D and E productions), and if an accident in that part is not likely to spread to other areas, or if fire prevention measures can prevent the spread of fire, then the classification may be determined based on the part with a lower fire hazard. It seems that the two people upstairs are both using building fire safety codes; I think it’s necessary to determine the approach based on specific circumstances. We had an accident here once in a similar situation
