Are there any cases of downgrade?

Earning points allows for upgrades, but is there also a possibility of downgrades? If there is a downgrade, what could be the reasons for it?
I haven’t heard of any cases of demotion; aside from changes in position, there is no such thing. So the original poster can go ahead and seek promotion without having to worry about it.
There are also cases of downgrading, though they are relatively rare. The main reason is that those who post content in serious violation of the rules may be subject to punitive point deductions, which leads to a downgrade. Lower-grade students need to be especially careful! :handshake
One of my friends, who wasn’t aware of it, is about to reach the fourth grade level. For some reason, his score suddenly dropped below 5, and he was not allowed to take the exams for new students; he even lost the permission to post messages. In a situation like his, how should he proceed with leveling up?
