1. During the transportation of crude glycerin, it was observed that about 10 days after transferring it from plastic barrels to containers, there were oil-like substances floating on the surface of the glycerin at a depth of around 300 mm; such substances were not present when it was in plastic barrels. Was there a problem at some stage in the processing process, or was the container itself at fault? 2. When crude glycerin is heated to 185–190°C, it overflows. After testing with pH paper, it is initially assumed that the high alkalinity content in the crude glycerin may be the cause (the pH value falls within range 9 on a scale of 1–14). How can this high alkalinity level be addressed? 3. During decolorization after distillation, activated carbon does not dissolve in it; as a result, the solution is yellow and transparent rather than colorless and transparent. Is this a problem with the activated carbon? 4. After production is completed, gel-like solid substances are found adhered to the container walls within the remaining residue, and they are difficult to remove. What are these solids?
