Precautions for the maintenance of molecular sieves: (1) During major overhauls or shutdowns for other reasons, it is necessary to prevent external air, water, or gases with high moisture content from entering the molecular sieves. If moisture gets in, it can lead to excessive levels of water and carbon dioxide in the outlet gas once operations resume; this may result in temporary poisoning of the catalyst in the synthesis tower, difficulty in raising the catalyst’s temperature, and a decline in its activity due to repeated oxidation and reduction processes. (2) The batch of molecular sieve used for regeneration after the system is put into operation must first be pressurized to the normal regeneration pressure; attempting to carry out regeneration without pressurization will cause the bed to be overturned. When the bed is overturned, the entire molecular sieve bed ends up in a suspended state, and the molecular sieve particles rub against each other, generating dust. When this batch is used, higher resistance and clogging of the outlet filter occur. Additionally, once the molecular sieve becomes pulverized, its crystal microstructure changes, the micropores get blocked, the specific surface area decreases, and its adsorption capacity falls. (3) When the process needs to operate in semi-automatic mode under special circumstances, operators must carefully verify whether the process conditions prior to each step meet the requirements, in order to avoid errors.
