Reporters learned yesterday that recently, Guangxi COFCO Bioenergy Company has officially reached an agreement with relevant parties to supply 400 tons of ethanol to the two petroleum subsidiaries in Beihai City, which will then be delivered to the ethanol gasoline blending center. Beihai City will have access to the first batch of “new gasoline” on March 1. According to COFCO Group, as of February 18, the 200,000-ton-per-year fuel ethanol production project operated by Guangxi COFCO Bioenergy Co., Ltd. has produced 10,000 tons of ethanol since it began operations officially on December 22 last year. By formulating vehicle ethanol gasoline with 1% fuel ethanol, 100,000 tons of such gasoline can be produced, which is sufficient to meet Guangxi’s monthly fuel demand for motor vehicles. It is understood that the project of Guangxi COFCO Bioenergy Co., Ltd., which has an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons of fuel ethanol, is part of the **energy strategy** and is aimed at promoting the use of ethanol as a fuel for vehicles. It is also the first ethanol project in China that does not rely on grain as a raw material. The project was officially put into operation at Hepu Industrial Park on December 22 last year.
