I encountered a device with a diameter of 2000 mm, made of 16MnR/304 material and with a thickness of 34+4 mm; the end caps need to be joined together and then heat-pressed. How should the assessment plan for this be established? If surfacing is used, is normalizing required for the evaluation of the surfacing?
No friend answered this question, so I’ll answer it myself.
When hot-pressing 16MnR, combined with the normalizing temperature (910–940), normalizing treatment can be omitted.
