The leakage rate of the check valve?

In our system, there are two storage tanks on the ground, each containing different materials; these materials are pumped by feed pumps to the reaction system located upstairs for external circulation cooling. It is strictly prohibited for the materials in the upper-level reaction system to flow back into the storage tanks on the ground. We are concerned that a sudden power outage or pump failure could cause the materials to flow back due to the difference in pressure, which is why check valves have been installed in the pipes. The question is: are these check valves reliable? Is its leakage rate high? Thank you?
Pumps are equipped with check valves at their outlets, which makes them reliable; the leakage rate depends on the quality of the product and how long it has been in use
If it is absolutely prohibited to allow the materials from the reaction system upstairs to flow back, then reliance solely on check valves is not sufficient; it is better to install a interlock system that can enable emergency shutdown.

Using a check valve does not guarantee absolutely that the material will not flow back, as check valves all have a leakage coefficient under certain conditions. If the pressure difference between behind the storage tank pump and the reaction system permits it, installing an N-type pipeline in between along with a check valve should be sufficient to prevent backflow. Of course, adding a interlock would be better, but it might result in high costs
