Requirements for the pressure at the safety valve’s discharge outlet: Is there any pressure requirement at the discharge outlet of a safety valve? If the normal pressure in the pipeline is 1.5 MPa and the activation pressure of the safety valve is 1.8 MPa, can the discharge outlet be connected to a tank to which the fluid flows under normal conditions? Are there any regulations or requirements in this regard? Please provide guidance. We came across a design drawing in which the location of the safety valve’s discharge outlet is different; it’s urgent!!!
I’ve never seen a pressure relief line connected back to a storage tank. Typical pressure relief lines are either vented directly or vented after exhaust gas treatment.

It is possible, but it is necessary to analyze each case on its own. When setting up a safety valve, consideration must be given to the safe release of pressure within that pressure system. If the tank at the discharge outlet is not part of that safety valve’s pressure system, then discharge is permissible; however, in the design of the safety valve, requirements must be specified regarding the pressure behind the valve.
