Let’s talk about the issue of the methionine pump not delivering the required amount
Both liquid ammonia with a low boiling point and ammonium methoxide at gas-liquid reaction equilibrium present in the medium are substances that vaporize easily; this can cause air entrapment in the plunger pump, preventing it from functioning properly and affecting the stable operation of the urea production system.
The main reasons why the methamine pump does not deliver fluid are: 1. The check valve or combination valve is damaged. 2. Significant fluctuations in the pressure of the medium-voltage system. 3. Methylamine contains too high a amount of ammonia. 4. The steam supplied to the pump inlet pipe is at too high a pressure, causing the material entering the pump to vaporize.
The main reasons why the methamine pump does not operate properly are: 1. The concentration of the methamine liquid is too high, causing condensation and crystallization at the pump’s inlet. 2. The ammonia content in the methamine liquid is too high, leading to severe vaporization. 3. The temperature of the methamine liquid is below its crystallization temperature. 4. The steam supply to the methamine liquid pipeline is insufficient.
It depends on the production conditions at that time. Under normal circumstances, it is usually the combination valve that has a problem. In abnormal situations where no flow occurs, this is generally caused by air entrapment in the pump due to changes in the composition of the ammonium methoxide solution during startup/shutdown or when there are significant pressure fluctuations
Air binding – the pump will produce loud abnormal noises. Problems with the combination valve – the pump’s current level drops significantly. These are basically the only two issues that can occur during operation
