Difference between .lic and.slf files

It has been recently discovered that these two types of files differ in some ways. The main part of a lic file is the Feature row, which contains keywords such as the feature name, manufacturer identifier, version number, expiration date, the number of end users allowed to use it, a 20-byte password, strings defined by the manufacturer, and the host ID. On the other hand, the content format of an slf file is as follows: 7 SLM_Aspensplit Nn LONG NORMAL STANDALONE EXCL 1 INFINITE_KEYS 23 MAY 2006 2 AUG 2006 SLM_CODE CL_ND_LCK 22277080 5 04030000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000SURD-INSTRUMENT_&_CRTL CHK_TAMPER Nn NAVNLPQ5LSM. Can an SLF file be opened with Notepad? It seems that this file can’t be modified casually; otherwise, it would be easy to crack it
The SLF file can be opened with Notepad, and the LIC file can also be used
My understanding is that the SLF file is a single-machine registration file, while the LIC file is a registration file that can be used for server installations of Aspen. I’m not sure if this is correct
I thought slf meant software license file; am I correct?
