Which is cheaper, a gate valve or a globe valve?
Gate valves of the same pressure rating and diameter are cheaper; the larger the diameter, the relatively cheaper they are. But when the diameter is too large, there are no stop valves, so gate valves are used as a substitute. Personal opinion, for reference only
There is not much difference in price between globe valves and gate valves below DN50; it is better to choose a globe valve. The manufacturing cost of globe valves with a diameter of DN50 or larger is higher than that of gate valves, which is why globe valves are more expensive. In terms of functionality, globe valves have a regulating capability, whereas gate valves do not. The sealing performance of globe valves is slightly better than that of gate valves. The pipeline resistance of gate valves is slightly lower. Please choose the type of valve based on the process conditions, rather than relying on price. Personal opinion, for reference only.
