Standards related to the classification of explosion-proof areas or conversions

I was working on a project recently, and several of the pumps were manufactured abroad. As for the motors used with them, I based my requirements on those set by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), but the information provided to me was based on the NEC (National Electrical Code of the United States). This situation left me in a difficult position, as I heard that these two standards are essentially opposite to each other. I specified EExd IIB T2, while the information given was for Class 1, Group B, Division 2. I’m not sure whether these specifications are equivalent to or exceed my original requirements. I would be grateful if experienced senior mages could offer some guidance; it would be ideal if they could provide standards for converting between the two or defining them, to facilitate selection in the future.
