Who has a small software or EXCEL tool for calculating the volume of standard elliptical heads at different heights? Thank you in advance

This post was last edited by ylb913 on 2016-11-1 at 15:39. 1. The short semi-axis a of a standard elliptical head is 1/2 of the long semi-axis b (i.e., the ellipse radius R). 2. The elliptical head has a straight-edge height (h), and this straight-edge height portion can be calculated as if it were a cylinder (base area multiplied by height); that is, V_straight_edge = πR^2h. The volume of an ellipse is equal to 2/3 times the area of its base multiplied by its height. 3. The height of the straight edges is usually 40 mm or 25 mm. Suppose you see that the height of a standard elliptical head is 740; then 40 represents the height of its straight edges. 700 represents the short semi-axis of the ellipse, 700*2=1400 represents the long semi-axis (or radius) of the ellipse, and 700*4=2800 represents the diameter of the ellipse.

What the poster means is, it’s not the entire volume of the head; for example, for a standard elliptical head with a flat surface area of 1800, if 500L of water is placed inside it, we need to know what the value will be. Is there such a calculation software? I’m also looking for one. Thank you
