Balancing the motor rotor is primarily done to prevent issues such as scraping against the stator, abnormal movement, and excessive heating caused by rotor imbalance. This is especially important for large motors; as far as I remember, balancing is not done for motors below 100 kilowatts. (For reference only) Balancing usually refers to dynamic balancing. Sampling for inspection should be carried out after balancing.

During the production process of motor rotors, various factors can cause imbalances in the rotor’s weight – such as porosity or shrinkage defects in the unevenly cast material, errors in the part’s weight, and machining errors. Therefore, the rotor must be balanced after it has been assembled. For motors with more than six poles or those with a rated speed of 1000 revolutions per minute or less, their rotors only need to be statically balanced; the rotors of other motors must be dynamically balanced.
