To be honest, do you really think the questions were easy this year?

The original poster has a background in biology; they took a course on principles of chemical engineering during their sophomore year, but after that they didn’t encounter any knowledge related to chemical engineering again during their graduate studies. By chance, they ended up working at a design firm, which led them to decide to obtain a certification. I won’t mention how many times they tried to pass the exam; anyway, they really started to study hard in 2014. Like most people, they failed on the first attempt, scoring only in the low 30s. They tried again this year; despite being very busy with work, they thought they were working hard enough. They would work overtime, go home, put their children to bed, and then continue studying. They usually went to bed after midnight. On weekends, they attended classes at a university nearby. They were confident before the exam, but still felt overwhelmed on the day of the test. The questions weren’t as difficult as those in 2014, but they certainly weren’t easy either. Many of the questions required significant calculations, even if one knew how to solve them. Their final score was 144 + 60. Based on past trends, it’s possible they passed, but when they saw the high scores posted online, they lost confidence again, worried that the passing threshold might have increased this year. To be honest, they didn’t find the case studies on the second day easy at all. After the exam, they felt completely exhausted. If they don’t pass this year, they don’t think they’ll be able to pass with the same level of difficulty next year. Those who passed, do you really think the questions were simple this year?
The next day, someone with sixty points passed by as well. . . Just by looking at the scores, it’s clear that it’s not that simple either. But since there are so many high-scoring members on the forum, it proves that I definitely haven’t tried hard enough. As for the cut-off scores, they probably won’t change. The insanely high scores in 2011 weren’t lowered, and the scores were made more lenient in 2012 without any increase either :)
Worried about price increases? It should remain unchanged. The passing score for the exam is very strict. How can it change just like that?

On the first day, I was two points short and almost cried; it was a shame as I scored 66 on the second day... But the original poster shouldn’t worry too much – the passing score is likely to remain unchanged
I also think these cases are not simpler at all than before
The computational load for these cases is still high, and the questions are more flexible; one must thoroughly understand the textbook and be able to apply what they have learned to similar situations. . . . .
60 points in chemical engineering seems like a pretty high score; I haven’t seen anyone get 60 points in power engineering, but there are quite a few who have 58 points
This year’s scores were 155+74; I found it quite challenging. There was a lot of calculation involved, the professional knowledge part was relatively simple, but the questions based on case studies were difficult.
