La Liga team announces signing of Shanghai Shenhua’s new foreign player; Paraguayan international on loan for one year

According to reports from Beijing time on January 18, La Liga side Athletic Bilbao announced that it has signed Paraguayan midfielder Oscar Romero from Chinese Super League team Shanghai Shenhua. Earlier reports indicated that Shenhua had already signed Romero, but no official announcement was made; now this signing has been confirmed by Athletic Bilbao. 　　The Olé newspaper reported that Shanghai Shenhua spent $9 million to sign Romero from Argentinos Juniors, but after Tevez joined the team, Shanghai Shenhua’s quota for foreign players was full; therefore, they decided to send him to play in European football first. 　　Alavés confirmed that Romero will play on loan at Alavés for one year, with the option for Alavés to extend the loan deal by another half year. 　　Born on July 4, 1992, Romero plays as a playmaker or winger; he is a rising star in South American football. Since joining Atlético in 2015, he has appeared in 47 league matches and scored 9 goals. By then he was already a Paraguayan international, having appeared 21 times for the national team and scoring 2 goals.
