Regarding the current projects involving polysilicon, silicone, and trichlorosilane, the wear-resistant valves that are being used include ball valves (Nalais, VTI) and disc valves (Evolet, Futais). Each type has its own advantages. I have a few questions and would appreciate it if those of you with expertise could provide some analysis, so that it can serve as a reference for future projects. 1. Which is more suitable for silicon powder systems, ball valves or disc valves? 2. If ball valves are used, which one offers better advantages between VTI and Nalais – which one has the best cost-performance ratio, and what are the aspects regarding after-sales service and performance records? 3. If disc valves are used (as seems to be the preference of many people based on forum posts), setting aside any issues related to copyright, which ones are better between imported and domestic versions – which ones have better performance records, and what about their after-sales service?
The ball valve VTI is slightly better, but its service life is not long and the support provided is not very good either. Taking everything into account, I still think disc valves are more suitable for silicon powder systems; both in terms of service life and after-sales support, Shanghai Futaisi offers excellent performance, while imported valves are not as good.
This issue has been discussed before. I think metal-sealed ball valves can be used, but their performance isn’t very good; they wear out quickly. In fact, imported ceramic ball valves are a good option, though their price might be a bit high
Imported ones are more reliable to use, but there’s one thing to be careful about: avoid valve damage caused by human error, as the repair costs in such cases can be very high, often approaching the value of the valve itself. The main difference between domestic and imported products nowadays lies in the operating conditions: imported products are often used in main lines and critical components, while conventional ones are used for ordinary applications. Although there are good domestic options as well, owners often do not want to take risks; the inability to do so is the reality of a lack of activity in valve design.
