I graduated in July 2007 and worked at a design firm; after a few months of a rather boring routine, I was assigned to work on-site as a site representative for a redevelopment project. It feels like there’s a lot to learn on the spot; it’s much better than working in the office. Many things are easier to understand once you have an intuitive grasp of them. I now understand a lot more, and it feels like I’ve had an epiphany. I feel that it would be better to stay on site for a while longer if it’s a project I’m involved in.
For newcomers, it is very beneficial and necessary to learn on-site; this allows them to understand intuitively what is conveyed in the drawings. They should also pay attention to any changes and modifications, especially keeping in mind any design issues to avoid making the same mistakes in the future.
