Official: Cavaliers officially extend contract with Derrick Williams through the end of the season

According to the Cavaliers’ official announcement, they have officially extended Derek Williams’ contract until the end of this season. So far this season, Williams has played 9 games for the Cavaliers, averaging 24.2 minutes per game, scoring 10.3 points and grabbing 3.1 rebounds, with a shooting accuracy of 56.1%. On February 10th, he signed the first of two 10-day short-term contracts with the Cavaliers. Before joining the Cavaliers, he played 25 games for the Heat this season, starting in 11 of them, averaging 15.1 minutes of play per game and scoring 5.9 points and grabbing 2.9 rebounds. This season is his 6th in the NBA; he has played for the Wolves, Kings, Knicks, Heat, and Cavaliers, appearing in 410 games in total, with 112 of those as starters. He averages 21.1 minutes per game and scores 9.1 points along with 4.1 rebounds. He was selected by the Wolves with the second overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft, and in 2012 he was named to the Second Team All-Rookie Team.
