The wind and rain send spring away; flying snow welcomes its arrival. The cliff is covered with ice a hundred feet thick, yet still delicate flower branches bloom there.
It doesn’t compete for spring’s beauty; it merely announces its arrival.
By the broken bridge outside the post station, it blooms in solitude, without a master. In dusk, I’m filled with sorrow alone; to top it off, there’s wind and rain. I have no desire to compete in the spring; let other flowers be envious. It turns to dust and mud, yet its fragrance remains unchanged.
I have to say, Meihua Mountain in Nanjing is really great!
A few plum blossoms in the corner of the wall, blooming alone in the cold. From afar I know it’s not snow, for there’s a subtle fragrance in the air.
