From AUTOCAD to PDS 2D, and then to SSP ID, design software continues to be developed. Behind the convenience of being able to integrate and output many design results using these new software tools, do anyone have any opinions of their own? Additionally, please share your insights on the following question: 1. Do you think SP P&ID should be a software used by draftspersons or by process engineers? 2. How many design firms in China are using this software? 3. How many organizations are there that offer project design software as a tool for widespread use? 4. Have there been any situations where you had to use this software due to the owner’s requests?

1. Do you think the SP P&ID should be a software used by draftspers or by process engineers? This software is a drawing tool for illustrators. Because its powerful features lie in the support of a backend database, the reports it generates, and its support for other specialties. The problem is that in many cases, a large amount of work in software involves input. Without complete input, there can be no subsequent output or support for other specialties. Where do the data come from? Of course, it’s provided by the manufacturing process. 2. How many design firms in China are using this software? Large domestic design institutes all have this software. But the application is very small. 3. How many organizations are there that offer project design software as a tool for widespread use? There aren’t many. Even foreign companies cannot use them for any project. 4. Have there been any situations where you had to use this software due to the owner’s requests? What does the client require? Well said. Making good use of this software requires a significant amount of manual time and human resources. There also needs to be enough time and appropriate processing conditions. In many cases, it’s not that people don’t want to use modern weapons; rather, the conditions are not available, so they cannot use them. :handshake :handshake
It’s a private Class B design firm; it only has CAD (the legitimate version), and it doesn’t have the money to use expensive tools like SMARTPLANT P&ID
Foreign companies use this quite often; almost all projects abroad specify the use of this software
As far as I know, none of my friends who work for foreign engineering companies have said they use it; there are many problems, and of course its functionality is also limited
It seems that the company lacks proper IT support, which makes it difficult to take full advantage of this software. Since it relies on an internet connection, each time data related to the pipelines needs to be modified, there is a long delay – it’s a real waste of time. However, the software does have its advantages; drawing with it isn’t just about creating diagrams – it’s essentially about establishing a complete database. Information such as the identifier of each pipeline, its temperature, the type of fluid it carries, its flow direction, and its material must all be entered accurately. If errors are made, the system will automatically display error messages (usually in the form of blue exclamation marks); we refer to the process of correcting these errors as “removing the blues,” haha. PS: In fact, the process of removing errors can also enhance the systematic knowledge of process design engineers, so I disagree with what was said above regarding this software being meant only for those who do diagramming work.
By the way, on the 7th floor: which design firm do you work for? Is there a cracked version of the SmartPlant software available? I’m very interested in learning about this aspect. :lol
