Bucks player Jason Terry talked on the show “The Runway” about some recent comments made by LaVar Ball, the father of UCLA star Lonzo Ball. “At some point, he (Laval) needs to become more humble. Once again, your child is indeed very good; don’t misunderstand me – you’re making your child a target for others. When he (Lonzo) actually steps onto an NBA court, everyone will do their best against him. Perhaps that’s exactly what he (Laval) wants: to have his child face the best opponents every night, so that he (Lonzo) can get better and perform at his best. ”Terry said. Terry continued, “But at the same time, this father doesn’t have to face these players every night; his child has to do that. So you (Lavall) are putting extra pressure on your child, and he (Lonzo) is already under a lot of pressure, because when he enters the league, he’s expected to be selected in the top five picks – which is enough to cause stress. But as a father, I understand that you want to be proud of your child and want to share the pressure with him. I know what he’s doing; he’s trying to share the burden and keep everyone’s attention on himself. But the reality is that his actions end up putting extra pressure on his child, forcing him to perform well. If he ends up turning out to be a disappointment, well, I’m willing to bet all my money that he won’t be one, because I’ve seen him play. If you get the chance to watch him play tomorrow, you’ll see that this kid is phenomenal. Taking Jason Kidd as a model for him is a good idea – he has great court vision, and the two of them are quite similar in terms of their ability to improve their teammates. His motivation for playing is pure; he doesn’t take unnecessary shots. He plays to win, and that’s everything you can ask of a point guard.” ”
