Oxide iron desulfurization is sufficient for city gas; zinc oxide is not required. City gas should contain a small amount of hydrogen sulfide so that users can detect leaks by the smell. Due to the need for frequent replacement, box-type ones are generally used. We have carried out desulfurization of city gas in multiple cities.
Reply: 1. The standard for H2S in city gas is less than 20 mg/Nm3, which is not a particularly strict requirement. 2. When the H2S content in the raw gas is not high, most gas plants use dry box-type desulfurization, with iron oxide as the desulfurizing agent and two stages of treatment to prevent the outlet parameters from exceeding limits in case of failure in the first stage. Considering factors such as cost, it is neither appropriate nor necessary to use zinc oxide as the desulfurizing agent. 3. When the H2S content in raw gas is high, in order to reduce costs, most enterprises have installed new wet desulfurization units, adopting a desulfurization process that combines wet and dry methods; more than 90% of the H2S is removed through wet desulfurization.
