There has been a long debate regarding whether tap water can be used for watering plants; some say it can, while others argue that the chlorine contained in the water is harmful to plants and that it should not be used for watering them, suggesting that the water should be left aside for a day or two until the chlorine dissipates before being used to water the plants. However, over the years, whether it comes to gardening at home or professional horticulture, there are still no accurate figures indicating the extent to which using tap water for watering plants can harm their growth. This issue still needs to be further investigated through scientific experiments. Practice has shown that tap water with a pH of 6.8–7.8 can be used for watering plants, including valuable species that prefer acidic conditions such as rhododendrons, camellias, and orchids. Through proper management of fertilizers and water, lush leaves and abundant flowers can be achieved year after year.
