It has no fragrance, is not edible, and usually each piece belongs to the same variety. The entire plant can be used in medicine; it has a bitter and slightly sweet taste, while its fruits are sweet and delicious. Clears heat and removes dampness. Used for infantile dyspepsia, acute gastroenteritis, dysentery, gastric and duodenal ulcers, urinary tract infections, leukorrhea, colds, coughs, and rheumatic bone and muscle pain.
