Recently I saw the design of a propylene spherical tank. The operating pressure is 1.4MPA and the operating temperature is 20 degrees. I would like to ask my friends who are making acrylic spherical tanks whether such operating pressure is reasonable. Note: There is no problem with the design pressure, it is 2.2MPA

I usually use the saturated vapor pressure corresponding to the maximum operating pressure of 40 degrees.
I am a tank farm operator myself. The operating pressure of the propylene tank in our position is 17.5 plus or minus 1.0MPa. Generally, if it is lower than 15.5, it will affect the instability of the feed to the polypropylene device due to insufficient pump pressure. The temperature is generally not controlled, it is the propylene feed temperature from the device.

Personally, I think the design operating pressure is low.
Whether there is a problem with the design pressure is not something the designer can say casually, because the design must take into account many factors, such as the outlet pressure of the compressor, the spray conditions of the spherical tank, the pressure loss during the transportation process, etc. The design must have its own ideas, and it is best to draw conclusions after the design is discussed.
The supervision regulations have very clear requirements for this. Operating conditions should be considered separately from design parameters.
I agree with what the 3rd floor said, and this is generally done by design units. If the tank is insulated, the temperature of the propylene in the tank is less than 40°C. If it is not insulated, after the tank is painted with sunscreen material, the performance of the sunscreen material is generally required to achieve the effect of not spraying in summer, that is, the temperature inside the tank is less than 40°C, then the maximum operating pressure is the saturated vapor pressure at 40°C, 1.56MPa (if there is no vaporizer pressurization), which has nothing to do with the outlet pressure of the compressor, etc.
