Does anyone know how to separate silver particles from potassium cyanide electroplating solutions, silver powder from polishing powders, and silver ions from nitric acid solutions? These raw materials mainly come from jewelry processing factories; is it necessary to refine the silver to 925 silver for recycling? For 1# QQ Love, it’s not clear whether the volume of material to be processed is large or small. If the volume is small, zinc powder along with a small amount of lead nitrate can be used to precipitate silver; thereafter, nitric acid is used to dissolve the silver. The resulting solution is then treated in the same way as that obtained from the second type of material. Silver nitrate is combined with chloride ions to precipitate silver again, and iron powder is used to displace the silver from silver chloride. After washing the silver powder thoroughly, the purity of the silver ingot can reach over 95%. If a higher purity is desired, the silver ingot can be further refined through electrolysis. If a large amount of potassium cyanide solution is used, the solution can be deoxygenated, followed by the addition of zinc powder to carry out a displacement reaction that produces silver sludge. This sludge can then be subjected to wet processing, or it can be combined with pure gold for further electrolytic refining.
