According to Beijing time on March 26, the 2018 ITTF World Tour German Open came to an end, with the Chinese team winning two championships. Ma Long defeated Xu Xin to win the men’s singles title, and the two then teamed up to win the men’s doubles title. The Japanese team won the titles in women’s singles and women’s doubles. The men's singles semifinals were held first, with Xu Xin and Ma Long both winning and advancing to the final. Ma Long defeated his teammate Xu Xin 4-1 (11-9, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-6) to win the championship. This is Malone’s 25th tour championship title. The men's doubles final was contested between Ma Long/Xu Xin and South Korea’s Jung Yong-sik/Li Sang-su. Ma Long/Xu Xin won 3-0 to claim the title. In the women’s singles semifinals, South Korea’s Seo Hyo-won defeated Feng Tianwei 4-2 (3-11, 11-4, 11-6, 11-8, 8-11, 11-5), while Kasumi Ishikawa fought hard over seven games to come back and beat Chinese Taipei’s Cheng Yijing 4-3 (11-5, 9-11, 11-6, 10-12, 9-11, 11-8, 11-6). In the final that followed, Kacumatsu Ishikawa defeated Hyeon Woo Seok 4-1 (11-9, 10-12, 11-6, 11-7, 11-6) to win the championship. In the women’s doubles final, Japan’s Mima Ito/Hina Hayata defeated South Korea’s Chae Yoo-jin/Lee So-hee 3-1 (11-8, 11-5, 10-12, 11-6), allowing the Japanese pair to defend their title as women’s doubles champions.
