Steam conservation is a key aspect of energy saving; let’s discuss it – what measures does your factory use to save steam?
Ensure proper insulation of equipment and pipelines, address steam leaks promptly, and clean heat exchangers regularly to prevent scaling that could lead to poor heat transfer
It is also necessary to ensure that the traps are functioning properly; one should not underestimate the amount of leakage from a single trap – small leaks add up, and thousands of such leaks across an entire plant can result in a significant amount of leakage.
Try to generate medium-pressure steam; less steam is required to achieve the same enthalpy drop
Establish a steam pipeline network to ensure the rational use of steam at all levels. Ensure the hydrophobic valve is in good condition, and address any leaks promptly. The condensate is either subjected to two flashes for recovery or returned to the boiler for reuse
1) Reduce leakage points. 2) Use high-quality desiccants as much as possible to avoid steam in the water. 3) Clean the equipment regularly to minimize heat loss. 4) Make use of steam condensate flashing to generate low-pressure steam.
For distillation using steam as the heat source, reducing the reflux ratio and operating at the edge of the acceptable range for product quality can make use of steam.
Try to minimize the distance between the equipment in use and the main steam drum. For equipment pipelines that are located far from the main steam drum and are not used frequently, it is recommended to install compressed air pipelines; these can be used to clear any water accumulated in the pipes before steam is introduced. Also, as mentioned above, insulation, check valves, and so on
Achieve proper steam balance to reduce or eliminate steam venting; Regularly inspect the traps and promptly repair or replace any faulty ones to ensure their proper operation ; Make rational use of the steam pressure level, avoid using it at a reduced level, and use temperature-reducing regulators as little as possible or not at all.
Pay close attention to the steam pressure to prevent overpressure; otherwise, vent it. For rotating equipment powered by steam, use the lowest speed necessary to achieve the desired output
