Dear teachers, a very strange phenomenon has occurred here recently. In the distillation column (below the feed inlet), there are 25 trays at the bottom where no pressure difference exists; the pressure differences across the trays above these are still within normal ranges. We have also analyzed the composition of the feed, and it shows no differences compared to before. Our analysis indicates that the tower was flooded, but after evacuating all the material from inside the tower, feeding was resumed ; The pressure difference of the tower remains the same as before. I wonder if a tray has fallen off, but it seems unrealistic for 25 pieces to drop at once. I don’t know what the reason is; I hope the teachers can help us.

There is also almost no temperature difference; based on the temperature distribution and pressure difference distribution, there is nothing wrong with the instruments.
It may be due to the channel tray tipping over, or extensive corrosion and detachment of the floating valves
It must be a problem with the trays; either the trays are corroded, or they have fallen off, etc.
What type of tray is it? If it is a floating valve column, then open the column to inspect the floating valves and trays; it’s possible that the floating valves have fallen off severely or the trays have been flipped over
The tower should be inspected to determine whether there is a problem with the tray flipping or with the downcomer~~~
Have there been any changes in the composition of the materials at the top and bottom of the tower? It seems this tower has severe leakage; it’s necessary to open it for inspection
It is very likely that the trays below the feed inlet have been flushed over. A similar issue occurred in one of our plant’s units shortly after it started operating. When steam was introduced for stripping, the control valves failed to function properly. The instrumentation team was called to adjust the valves, but the operator on duty did not instruct the field operator to close the shut-off valves as required. As a result, the valves kept opening and closing, causing large fluctuations in the amount of steam supplied; this led to the trays being disrupted, and the only solution was to shut down the unit for cleaning.
It might be that the surge caused the tray to tip over, or the floating valve came loose; I think we need to stop and take a look
