Strengthening in the summer is a hot topic, even more so than the finals. Option 1: Minor enhancements with minimal disruption. Renew contracts with Paul and Capella, retain last season’s core squad, and make additional reinforcements. Option 2: Create salary space to sign LeBron. This plan requires the team to use a draft pick to get rid of Anderson (possibly at the cost of Gordon plus a first-round pick), and they might also have to give up on extending Capela’s contract with a high salary – it’s a significant sacrifice. But then again, having LeBron, Paul, and Harden together is definitely worth trying. Option 3: Sign first and then make the swap to get George. In fact, since an emperor can be obtained, there is absolutely no need to replace George. This plan is itself Plan B, and it comes with a cost similar to that of Plan 2. I really like the player Gordon, but if the Rockets want to make significant changes, they will have to get rid of Anderson. The replacement might be Gordon or Ariza. In my opinion, if Gordon does leave, the Rockets could try to sign Evans; he offers a similar level of performance for less money. I’ve also heard that Mayo will be available at a low price, as will Fredette. With Paul and Harden’s appeal, I believe there won’t be a shortage of people willing to support them.
