Not long ago, I had to have one of my little toes amputated due to gout nodules; I was hospitalized for half a month. After being discharged, I was able to get the costs reimbursed through the union’s health insurance plan. It was then that I found out that I hadn’t been included in the statistics – which really annoyed me, as I had been participating in this insurance program all along. This year, I was simply forgotten for some reason. Since then, various unpleasant issues have arisen: 1. No pay slips; sometimes my salary varies from month to month. Every time I go to deal with those annoying HR officials, it becomes frustrating after a while. 2. The pension contributions are made at the minimum level. 3. There isn’t even a meal provided at work. 4. There are no benefits at all throughout the year; just 100 yuan per holiday, totaling no more than 300 yuan per year. 5. Even the year-end bonus is deducted in various ways, so I end up with less than a month’s salary – in fact, it’s less than 13 times my monthly salary. These days I’ve been wondering if it’s time to find another job Unfortunately, my home is here, and I’m almost 40 now

It’s much better than where we are; the main advantage is that it’s close to home. If there are good companies in the vicinity, that’s an advantage. In more distant locations, it depends on whether one can leave home, or it still comes down to personal considerations
