On July 7, 1937, Japanese imperialists launched a full-scale war of aggression against China, starting with the creation of the Lugouqiao incident. On the night of July 7th, a unit of the Japanese army, under the pretext of a \"drill,\" provoked the Chinese troops near the Lugou Bridge. Using the disappearance of one soldier as an excuse, they demanded permission to enter Wanping County town (now Lugouqiao Township) for a search. The Japanese side’s unreasonable demands were rejected by the Chinese side. While the negotiations were still in progress, the Japanese army launched an attack on the Chinese troops stationed in the Lugou Bridge area and bombarded Wanping County town. A unit of the 29th Army of the Chinese garrison rose up to resist. The Lugouqiao Incident (also known as the July 7th Incident) marked the beginning of the nationwide war of resistance. The test of the air defense alarm is scheduled for July 7th, so as to ensure that people will never forget this solemn day, to remind citizens not to forget the national humiliation and to work toward the rejuvenation of China, and to warn everyone to be vigilant even in times of peace.
