I would like to ask my colleagues: the dry point of the crude gasoline in our plant is around 200. Why can the dry point of the stabilized gasoline drop below 195 after stabilization? ? ?
The dry point of crude gasoline is always higher than that of stabilized gasoline. This is because some C5 components enter the compressor, then proceed to the absorption and stabilization system in the form of concentrated oil before ending up in the gasoline. The so-called dry point of gasoline is generally determined based on the whole distillation process – 98% of the distillate is considered the dry point. When more light components are present in the gasoline, this 98% threshold shifts forward, resulting in a lower dry point. The initial boiling point of crude gasoline is lower than that of stabilized gasoline, as the distillation column achieves only a simple equilibrium between the rich gas and gasoline, and it contains more C4 components than stabilized gasoline; however, its dry point is higher than that of stabilized gasoline.

3# fg1115: Dude, the C4 components in crude gasoline are not necessarily present in larger amounts than those in stabilized gasoline, and its initial boiling point is generally higher as well (please refer to page 44 of \"Calculations in Oil Refining Processes – Catalytic Cracking Calculations\" as well as actual conditions)
The dry point of stabilized gasoline should be slightly lower than that of crude gasoline; see page 395 of \"Petroleum Refining Engineering\".
