It is understood that all these roads are located in Fangshan District. According to the announcement, autonomous vehicles undergoing road tests must be equipped with temporary license plates and test on designated roads. Test vehicles that violate the regulations are subject to penalties imposed in accordance with the law by the public security traffic management authorities. In accordance with Beijing’s new regulations on autonomous driving, all autonomous vehicles applying for test licenses must undergo daily training in closed testing facilities over a distance of 5,000 kilometers, as well as capability assessments at corresponding levels. These assessments cover aspects such as compliance with traffic rules, the ability to operate autonomously, and the capability to have human control taken over in emergency situations. Only after achieving a certain level of competence and passing vehicle safety tests can such vehicles be used for road testing. The test driver must complete no less than 50 hours of training to be able to take over an autonomous vehicle at any time. Before going on the road, it is necessary to undergo evaluation and verification by experts ； Once on the road, the test vehicle must be equipped with monitoring devices and transmit data to ensure that autonomous vehicles conduct tests at specified times and on designated routes, while remaining under constant supervision. Previously, Beijing established the first closed autonomous driving test site in Haidian, covering an area of over 200 mu. This test site includes various road types from urban and rural areas, offering a wide range of testing scenarios as well as a multi-level evaluation system. In March this year, Beijing opened 33 roads totaling 105 kilometers in the Economic and Technological Development Zone, Shunyi District, and Haidian District as the first batch of test roads. Furthermore, according to data from Beijing’s third-party autonomous driving service platform, as of August this year, autonomous driving vehicles in Beijing had traveled a total of over 41,672.3 kilometers safely.
