It mainly depends on the sensitivity of the testing instruments; those with high sensitivity are usually imported and expensive, so environmental monitoring departments do not equip themselves with them.
But if you are at the scene, you can generally sense it through your nose, respiratory tract, eyes, and skin; therefore, the human senses are the most sensitive detection instruments. The disadvantages are the difficulty in quantitative detection and evidence retention.
