Maintenance of Texaco gasifier instruments

During major repairs, all valves and instruments must be inspected. It is also necessary to check whether the double-flange pressure taps used for measuring the liquid levels in the gasification furnace and the carbon scrubbing tower are blocked, and whether the diaphragm boxes are damaged. Additionally, the pressure differences between the gasification furnace and the slurry pipeline, as well as between the gasification furnace and the lockhopper, need to be checked, along with the liquid levels in the lockhopper flushing water tank, in order to prevent blockages of the pressure taps due to ash and debris. Furthermore, before feeding the material, all valves involved in the gasifier interlock system must be checked to ensure that they operate properly and are in the correct position. Reply to 3# cheeryde: Generally, the main operator in charge of gasification works on large-scale systems, checking for any issues with these systems; if there are problems, coordination between the instrumentation team and the main operator is required to address them.

The most important items are the slurry flow meter, oxygen flow rate, quench chamber, carbon scrubber tower, syngas analysis instruments, and calibration.
