The old farmer lost his wife in his early years, and through a matchmaker he married a woman who was around 34 or 35 years old. On their wedding night, the old farmer couldn’t help but notice that the bride didn’t seem to be 34 or 35 at all, so he asked her, \"How old are you exactly?\" ” At first, the bride refused to say it, but after the old farmer kept asking, she finally said in a quiet voice, “I’m actually forty-seven or forty-eight years old.” ” Regarding this answer, the old farmer remained skeptical and said, “It’s too late for us to turn back now; you might as well tell the truth – how old are you?” ” The bride didn’t want this question to be asked over and over again, so she said, “Here’s the truth: tell me that and stop asking. I just turned 55 this year.” ” “Fifty-five years old! ”Although the old farmer was surprised, he still found it hard to believe it. He felt embarrassed to ask any more questions. He checked the time and realized it was getting late, so he got up and said to the bride, “I need to go to the kitchen for a moment.” ” The bride asked, “What are you going to the kitchen for at this late hour?” ” The old farmer replied, “I’m going to the kitchen to get the lid for the salt; otherwise, my mice will get up at night and steal the salt.” ” No sooner had she finished speaking than the bride burst into laughter and said, “I’ve lived to be 67 years old, and I’ve never heard of mice stealing salt.” ”
It seems like this matchmaker used to work in the insurance industry :lol
