Is strengthening pipe joint manufacturing related to the main pipe?
Can’t understand the question. Regarding the main pipe, if the diameter of the branch pipe is the same as that of the main pipe or differs by only one or two sizes, it is best to use equal-diameter tees or reduced-diameter tees rather than reinforced pipe fittings.
Does anyone know if there are specific regulations in that industry regarding reinforced pipe fittings? Could you explain it!
The OLET you mentioned is referred to in ASME B16.11 as a branch fitting; there are two types: those welded by butt joint and those welded by socket joint. In China’s national standards, it is specified in GB/T19326, which actually also draws on foreign standards. There are currently three terms used for it: branch pipe seat, branch pipe platform, and reinforced pipe joint; I’m not entirely sure which one is correct. I’ve been researching this topic these past few days.

Depending on the specifications of the main pipe, the curvature at the O-LET and the main pipe junction changes; as a result, the total height of the O-LET also changes. For O-LETS of the same specification, the larger the size of the main pipe, the lower its total height, and vice versa.
If a tee is used, the cost is higher, and moreover the weld length is N times longer compared to using OLET. OLET is mainly used to address stress issues when connecting main pipes and branch pipes.
