Why do I feel that today’s children no longer have the ability to learn?

It seems that today’s children no longer have the ability to learn on their own; they spend almost all of their free time taking extra lessons. In the past, students would study on their own, making various notes and keeping records of their mistakes. Nowadays, it seems that students simply can’t learn without extra lessons, which has led to an overabundance of such tutoring classes~
Children are definitely smarter than they used to be. The problem lies in the textbooks; the current textbooks seem to be deliberately written in such a way as to contain little useful information, confusing students. Children must read supplementary materials in order to understand the content of the textbooks. I paid close attention to this matter 10 years ago. .
It’s not that children have poor learning abilities; rather, the source of such abilities is being restricted
With the explosion of knowledge, filling in gaps has become common; on Teachers’ Day, everyone follows this trend.
Part of the reason might also be that teachers teach less in class, leading to more horizontal comparisons (between cities and rural areas, between key and non-key areas)
Due to societal trends, children no longer have happy childhoods.
12 years of schooling before university – isn’t that way too long? I think 9 years will be sufficient. . . This education system has serious problems. . . Those little bits of knowledge from elementary and middle school – why is it necessary to study them for 12 years? . . With a limited level of knowledge, children are led down wrong paths; as a result, many of them become bored with studying once they reach university and lose interest in science and technology. . . This is true intellectual waste! . . . Especially, many children don’t graduate and start working until they are 25 or 30 years old; once they begin working, they are forced to rush into getting married and having children. This transition period is simply too short, which causes these people to divide their energy too much and makes it difficult for them to focus primarily on their work.
I’ve always disliked the fact that middle school textbooks devote so much space to ancient texts and poems, as well as those characters with multiple meanings. In modern life, who uses ancient Chinese to speak or express themselves? It has a sense of decay and obsolescence about it. No matter how well one studies ancient texts and poems, it’s almost completely useless; it’s just a waste of children’s intellectual energy. Expressing the content clearly and understandably is what constitutes good language skills. Take that drunkard Li Bai again; when he’s drunk, he blurtes out something like \"The moon shines bright before my bed,\" and that too can become a famous line in literature. . . As for Chinese language textbooks, despite decades of effort, they still haven’t managed to figure out what Li Bai’s bed actually was – it’s all nothing but arbitrary and nonsensical speculation. It’s not that your child isn’t smart or doesn’t work hard; it’s those poems and classical texts written by drunkards that have confused your child. :lol
Most traditional culture is dross, with only a small portion being the essence. Practice is the sole criterion for testing truth. Those elements that have been abandoned by history, by the times, and by the people are naturally dross. Only the essence will be remembered by the people forever, enduring through time. . .
