To further promote the sustainable development of Xinjiang’s petroleum and chemical industries, the \"4th Xinjiang Petroleum and Chemical Exhibition 2019\" will be held in Urumqi, Xinjiang, in August 2019. During the same period, the organizing committee will also hold several forums on the oil and chemical industry. Relevant departments, industry associations, research institutions, enterprises and institutions, as well as news media from home and abroad in this field will be invited to participate, in order to conduct extensive exchanges and discussions on how to further develop Xinjiang’s oil and chemical industry chain, overcome the bottlenecks in its development, and promote the scaled, intensive, integrated, and specialized growth of this industry. The petroleum and chemical industry is an important pillar of Xinjiang’s economic development, and it is also one of the industries in Xinjiang that boasts the greatest resource advantages and development potential. After decades of development, Xinjiang’s petroleum and chemical industry has achieved remarkable success, giving rise to coal chemical, salt chemical, petroleum chemical, chlor-alkali chemical, and fine chemical production bases of various scales and with distinct characteristics in areas such as Zhundong, Karamay, Kuitun-Dushanzi, Shihezi, Urumqi, Turpan-Hami, Kuqa-Baicheng, and Korla. However, Xinjiang’s petroleum and chemical industry still faces challenges and problems such as an excessive proportion of upstream development, a small proportion of downstream processing, relatively weak capabilities in technological innovation and R&D, and relatively backward industrial supporting facilities. These issues hinder the further development and expansion of Xinjiang’s petroleum and chemical industry. The reporter learned that the 3rd Xinjiang International Petroleum and Chemical Technology and Equipment Exhibition in 2018 was successfully held from July 17 to 19, 2018, at the Xinjiang International Convention and Exhibition Center (Urumqi), achieving fruitful results. The exhibition covered an area of 20,000 square meters, attracting more than 300 well-known domestic and international companies to participate, with 11,856 professional visitors in total. Exhibitors generally reported that the scale of this exhibition, as well as the quantity and quality of the visitors, were better than expected. Both exhibitors and buyers expressed a satisfaction rate of over 92% with the on-site services at this exhibition. Preliminary estimates show that the value of contracts intended to be signed at this exhibition amounts to approximately 565 million yuan. The organizing committee welcomes relevant organizations from the petroleum and chemical industries at home and abroad to actively participate in the 4th Xinjiang Petroleum and Chemical Exhibition 2019.
