I would like to ask the experts: Copper gaskets are now commonly used in high-pressure steam pipelines. Are there any standards for this????
Copper gaskets are used in steam pipes where the operating temperature does not exceed 400 degrees and the pressure does not exceed 6.4 bar. I’m not sure what the parameters are for the high-pressure steam pipes referred to by the original poster; exceeding these standards increases the risk of leaks. In our applications, the temperature usually does not exceed 300 degrees and the pressure does not exceed 4.0 bar.
There seems to be no fixed standard for this; here we use copper gaskets for steam at 2.5 MPa and above, and in a few plant areas, copper gaskets are also used for steam at 1.3 MPa. Copper gaskets have good ductility; if there are leaks or gaps in the gasket, it can be fixed by tightening it, but their cost is high
Due to the properties of copper, it can be used under conditions where the pressure is not very high and the temperature is not very high. I’m not sure what conditions the original poster is referring to: lol
Process conditions: 3.8 MPa, superheated steam at 430°C
