Does anyone know anything about the Datang International coal-to-gas project in Keqi, Inner Mongolia? How far along is this project? I heard there were difficulties with the approval process, but all six air separation units have been signed for by Hangyang.
The air separation unit contract has indeed been signed with Hangyang. The project still needs to obtain approval from the National Development and Reform Commission, but the commission has allowed preliminary work on it to proceed. This project is one of the two demonstration projects for coal-to-natural gas developed by the National Development and Reform Commission.
Datang International has also launched a coal-to-natural gas project in Fuxin, Liaoning, which is said to be similar to the project in Keqi, Inner Mongolia. The Fuxin project must have run into problems as well.
What is the scale of each of these 6 air separation units? 60,000?
Does anyone know what the gas production capacity (of methane) per unit of the Datang coal-to-natural gas project is?
**In March 2008, the Industrial Department of the National Development and Reform Commission hosted a \"Coal-to-Natural Gas Technology Seminar\" in Beijing. More than 30 participants attended the meeting, representing units involved in planning, design, gasifier manufacturing, coal chemical production, and project construction. **Chen Shihai, Deputy Inspector of the Industrial Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. The meeting focused on the process technology proposals put forward by the project entities, and discussed suitable process technology routes for coal-to-natural gas production with regard to key technologies such as coal gasification, methanation, coal tar hydrogenation, coal water treatment, and the comprehensive utilization of \"three wastes.\" It also introduced new approaches in areas such as raw materials, waste management, water conservation, and peak load regulation. Coal chemical manufacturing enterprises with extensive practical experience also shared their insights and lessons regarding the operation and management of gasifiers, offering sound suggestions on the potential issues that may arise in coal-to-natural gas demonstration projects. In his speech, Comrade Chen Shihai not only outlined the main tasks for the coal chemical industry in the coming years but also put forward requirements for the coal-to-natural gas demonstration projects. He emphasized that coal-to-natural gas production in our country is still in its infancy; gasification technology serves as the cornerstone of coal chemical industry. It is necessary to select the most suitable technologies and equipment based on the characteristics of the coal used, make full use of wastewater, waste gas, and waste residues, and carry out thorough preliminary work ; It is necessary to earnestly learn from past experiences and lessons, thoroughly study various potential problems that may arise in the future, and minimize risks related to investment, environmental protection, and operation ; The design unit must fully consider opinions from all parties, conduct thorough research in areas such as process technology and equipment selection, and continuously improve the design plan ; Project entities must attach great importance to team building, strengthen talent development, and strive to establish a technical and management team that is suitable for project construction and operational activities. The meeting further clarified the direction for the preliminary work, unified perspectives, broadened approaches to the tasks, achieved the desired results, and laid a solid foundation for subsequent work. In early May 2008, the **National Development and Reform Commission approved the initiation of preliminary work for the project. This post was last edited by react on 2008-8-16 08:41]
The projects for Datang are in full swing; the key equipment, such as the gasification furnace and internal tower components, has already been ordered!
If you want to go, go and check it out in person! ! ! ! !
In some places, coke oven gas and natural gas are being converted into chemical products, while in other places natural gas is being produced – isn’t that a contradiction?
