Recent chemical projects in Zhejiang

Let me start with one example: in the Jiaxing Port Area of Zhejiang Province, there is a PTA production facility with an annual capacity of 800,000 tons. It was invested in by South Koreans, with a total investment amounting to 2.8 billion yuan. The main equipment includes raw material purification towers, decarboxylation reactors, hydrogenation reactors, separators, distillation towers, thin-film evaporators, and transesterification reactors. In Ningbo, Zhenhai Refining & Chemical produces 1 million tons of ethylene; there are also several projects on Daxie Island, including those related to PTA, heavy-duty road asphalt produced on Daxie Island, and the expansion of Mitsubishi Chemical’s facilities

There are definitely chemical industry projects, but approval processes are now stricter; many new projects are carried out under the guise of relocation or expansion!

I’m currently in Quzhou, Zhejiang. There are quite a few projects in the Quhua area

There are quite a lot in Ningbo, Jiaxing, and Quzhou as well

Wanhua Company’s 300,000 tons/year MDI project on Daxie Island in Ningbo, CNOOC’s heavy-duty road asphalt project on Daxie Island； The large aromatic hydrocarbons project at Zhoushan Hobang Chemical Company seems to have just started operation.

Ningbo Zhenyang Chemical Development Co., Ltd. has started construction of its first-phase project, which includes facilities for producing 100,000 tons per year of ion-exchange membrane caustic soda and 35,000 tons per year of chlorinated paraffins, within the Ningbo Zhenhai Chemical Industrial Park. AkzoNobel is establishing a diversified chemicals production facility covering an area of 50 hectares in the Ningbo Chemical Industrial Park; the initial phase of this facility will involve the construction of plants for producing chelating agents and ethylenimine, with an investment of 250 million euros. Production is expected to begin in 2009 and 2010 respectively. Weiyuan Linde Gas Co., Ltd. will construct a gas supply pipeline from Beilun to Zhenhai; the section in Zhenhai is 17 kilometers long, and completion is expected in the first half of 2009. The investor in the capital expansion project for Aijing Chemicals is the South Korean Aijing Group, with a total investment of $30 million, of which $20 million comes from foreign capital.
