Does anyone know the process characteristics and product properties of bimodal polypropylene? Please advise.
Taking BASELL’s loop process as an example: (1) Bimodal products refer to those that exhibit two peaks in chromatography or nuclear magnetic resonance. (2) If there is only one reactor, only single-peak products can be produced. Continuous production using 2 reactors allows for the production of 2 products with different peak values. (3) Essentially, it is the difference in the hydrogenation amount across the 2 reactors that results in the formation of these 2 MFR products. The inner layer (MFR of the first reactor) and the outer layer (MFR of the second reactor) depend mainly on the production distribution rate of the product formula. (4) The most important bimodal product is BOPP film material. Biaxially oriented films: (5) Bimodal products have a wide distribution of molecular weights; they possess both low-molecular-weight properties that facilitate processing and high-molecular-weight characteristics. In general, most film materials are bimodal. Injection molding and drawing generally result in a single peak. :)
