In the Wuhan dialect, putting one thing inside another is called “tong”; when two pairs of shoes are put together, it is naturally called “tong shoes”. It corresponds exactly to the wedding blessing \"to be together until old age,\" and thus is regarded as a symbol of a loving marriage and a life spent together. Before the wedding, the bed needs to be prepared by laying out bedding items such as mattresses, sheets, duvets, pillow sets, and canopy beds, and sprinkling various auspicious fruits and other symbols of good fortune on it.
